Although born in Maryland, Joey Wright has called Tennessee home since 1979. He has owned and operated his own technology company for 14 years. As a means to improve his duck hunting, Joey found sporting clays and has been competitively shooting since 2010. STS is a way for him to merge his knowledge of technology with his love of shooting.
Early on, Joey began working “behind the scenes” with the Montgomery County Shooting Complex by organizing, promoting, and running tournaments. For the past 6 years he has worked extensively with the National Sporting Clays Association by setting up digital scoreboards for the National Championships and the World English Sporting Championships. Joey also designed and operates the real-time scoring system for the Professional Sporting Clays Association (PSCA Tour).
A native to middle Tennessee, Melissa Wright has been a high school French teacher for the past 16 years. Melissa was introduced to clay shooting in 2007 when she founded the Marshall County Division of the Scholastic Clay Target Program. She began competitively shooting sporting clays the same year, winning the title of Ladies State Champion the following year. She is a 6-time TN Ladies State Sporting Clays Champ, 2-time TN All-State Team Member and a Lady A Class National Champ.
Melissa is a board member of the Tennessee Sporting Clays Association and assists in planning and promoting sporting clays in the state of TN. For STS, she creates & maintains websites and social media for the PSCA Tour, the Gator Cup, the NSCA US Open, Wendell Cherry, Kevin DeMichiel, and more. Her outgoing creativity and personality have been a great asset to STS.
